Is LiveAsk available yet?

Not yet. LiveAsk is coming soon to iPhone and is not on the App Store today. Email us to hear when it is.

What do I need?

An iPhone on iOS 26. Answers on the phone use Apple's on-device model, which needs Apple Intelligence turned on, on an iPhone that supports it. If yours can't run it, you can add an OpenAI or OpenRouter key in Settings instead.

Do I need an account or an API key?

No. Out of the box LiveAsk uses on-device transcription and Apple's on-device model. A key is only needed if you choose OpenAI or OpenRouter.

Does it work offline?

Yes, with on-device answers. The only time LiveAsk needs a network is when iOS downloads the speech model for a language the first time.

It answered something that wasn't a question.

Turn on “Only obvious questions” in Settings. It tightens the detector, and you can always tap the arrow button to ask about what you just said.

It missed my question.

Tap the arrow button next to Stop to ask about your last sentence. You can also turn off automatic answers and ask only when you tap.

The on-device model says it isn't available.

Check that Apple Intelligence is turned on in the iPhone's Settings. If the model is still downloading, that usually finishes in a few minutes on Wi-Fi.

Is my audio recorded?

No. Audio is transcribed and discarded, never written to a file. See the privacy policy.

Can I keep or share answers?

Sessions are saved on the iPhone. You can search them, rename them, copy an answer, or share a session as Markdown.
